Amanda Rodriguez (She/Her)
Bereaved Parent / Peer Companion
1) Describe briefly how you got involved with Empty Arms.
I found Empty Arms after I had gave birth at 18.5 weeks to my son Isaiah in June 2023. I was given a bag with their items inside and found myself part of the group in July. One of the best things I did for myself. Surrounding myself with other parents who have experienced what I was going through.
2) What makes you most proud of the work we do/What do you like most about Empty Arms?
I didn’t have someone beside my husband there in the room with us to explain what was happening and how to go one after we lost our son. Or to even explain to our older daughter what happened. Meeting parents at the worst moment in their life and letting them know they are not alone and letting them know we can help them just by sitting with them in silence or even if the have older kids to talk to them.
3) Share a passion in your life and/or work outside of EABS.
Outside of EABS I help our older folks at work and at home I have 2 daughters who keep me busy!
Amanda is located in Springfield, MA.
