Lindsey Sarah Watson (She/Her)

Bereaved Parent / LGBTQ+ Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Group Facilitator

1) Describe briefly how you got involved with Empty Arms.

My wife and I went through IUI and eventually IVF and after some early losses we finally made it deep enough into a pregnancy to be released to the midwife team, then when I was at 26 weeks our daughter Frankie Josephine went still and we went to the emergency room. Once the physicians confirmed that she was not moving and did not have a heartbeat they admitted us and the midwives connected us with Empty Arms to support us though our loss. Empty Arms helped us coordinate with the funeral home and made sure that we had beautiful keepsakes of her including dresses, footprints, hand and foot casts, and photographs. When some time had passed Empty Arms helped connect me with the Infant and Stillbirth loss support group.

2) What makes you most proud of the work we do/What do you like most about Empty Arms?

I am grateful that the midwives at the hospital knew of Empty Arms and while I hate that there is a need for Empty Arms to exist I am glad they were there to support me through my grief.  I am grateful for the support that Empty arms provided us in the hospital and in the time that has passed and I hope I can provide some small measure of comfort to others.

3) Share a passion in your life and/or work outside of EABS.

I am an English teacher for 5 -12th grade and I currently teach middle school ELA.  My wife and I are foster parents with a focus on LGBTQ+ teens and sibling pairs/groups.

Lindsey is located in South Hadley, MA.
